Bouldering in Cueva del Tigre, (Tiger Cave) an ancient lava tube below the Patagonian desert near Malargue, Argentina

The truck had been pounding down a hot dusty road for hours in a desolate land with few hills. Suddenly, we skidded to a stop. "Let's climb!" Willie yelled. Puzzled, I looked around and didn't see a cliff in sight. A short distance away a ladder disappeared into a dark hole. Soon we were bouldering in cool air by candle light on perfectly horizontal roof cracks. The stone ripped at our skin and pumped our arms, but the surreal location kept us going until the candles burned out. Photography was difficult in the pitch black cave. I focused by flashlight, used two strobes and bracketed exposures, unsure if anything was working at all.
