The
Sonoma Coast is known for it's jagged shoreline, craggy
seastacks, sweeping mountain sides, thick forests, fog and
wind. The land has been turned on end, uplifted by colliding
tectonic plates along the San Andreas Fault, which forms
the Coast Mountain Range and is largely to blame for our
frequent earthquakes. The convergence of these elements
with the sea is a recipe for excitement and sometimes disaster.
As I make images, I try to capture the essence of place,
show the land at it's most beautiful and dramatic. The long
exposure used to make this piece is symbolic of the effects
of time.
