Many of my early attempts at photographing in this strange environment were complete failures. The dark vegetation and direct sunlight were in too harsh of contrast to one another for the compositions I selected. I didn't know when the best conditions would occur, so I took every opportunity to get to know the sea and learn her rhythms. The awesome power of the ocean is also it's allure, but the tidal zone is a serious place. I've been knocked on my keister more times than I'd like to admit and have had close encounters with numerous sleeper waves. This, my favorite tidepool seascape, was made at first light in summer of 2004 during a rare -2.1 tide.
