Sunset over Winter Surf, Bodega Head, California
© 2002 Jerry Dodrill
The
weather report predicted severe wind and rain. I was supposed
to be teaching a workshop on this November weekend, but
canceled it due to the extreme forecast. This is a mistake
I won't make twice. Horrendous weather doesn't usually stick
around long and, true to form, it blew out on Saturday afternoon.
Enormous waves slammed the coast, shaking the cliffs so
hard that they registered on the Richter scale. I photographed
sunset in the cold wind with a close friend. Since then
I have welcomed bad weather for my classes. You can see
nice California days all summer long, but the thrill of
a Pacific Storm is an experience not easily forgotten.
